Book Summary:  This story follows the love between a little boy and his mother.  A mother’s love is unwavering as her son goes through his different stages of life from baby to adult.  Every night the mother rocks her son when he’s asleep and sings him a little song, which he remembers when he rocks her when she’s old and sick.  The book ends with the son coming home to rock and sing to his own baby.

Impressions:  I remember the first time my mother read this book she couldn’t help but cry as she read it aloud to her four children.  We would always bring her tissues anytime she’d read the book after that.  It is a very touching story of a mother’s unconditional love, which her son realizes for himself as an adult.  The first time I read the story to my own son, I felt the same emotion I remember my mom experiencing and by the end had tears in my own eyes.

Professional Review:
"This story was an ABSOLUTE favorite of mine growing up and always made me feel more close to my parent that was reading it too me. At the time when I was very young I just thought it was a sweet story, but the older I get the more it touches my heart. I knew as soon as I became a mother myself it was going to be one of the first books I purchased for my child. Even now, I can’t get through reading it without getting choked up."

Library Use:  This book appeals to all ages so while Love You Forever should most likely be located in the picture books it can be used for story times and as inspiration and encouragement to children, parents, and grandparents alike.  It would be a great book to read during a special Mother’s Day reading or Grandparents Day.
